![]() However my brother has a kindle and loves it so it may just be preference tbh ![]() Tbh I love my kobo and would never switch to amazon. Kobo and amazon pretty much have the exact same prices for books (matching each other on 99p deals) and if not then kobo will price match you to amazon, but you do have to buy the ebook from kobo then request money back, but I haven't actually used that so they may give money or credit back I'm not sure. Shortly after my library switched to borrowbox which is too much of a faff for me so I gave up. In terms of books, I bought my kobo for libby. The support agent gave me the book for free despite it not being in the valid offer anymore and also gave me 5000 kobo points for free for being a nice customer. I also have spoken to kobo support, I got a VIP plus membership thing and never redeemed my free book, I wanted one from a while ago that was no longer available and my code did not work on any books. The next software update (possibly 2-3 weeks later) fixed it completely. I did contact kobo support, they said it's currently an issue they were working on and had no date for the new software update that would fix it. I also had a separate issue where my kobo would not sync to the timezone (am uk so we switched to summertime) and it wouldn't change to the summer timezone or any other timezone. I've had my kobo for a year now and that's only been an issue twice. I had to turn it on and off again fully for it to be fine. I had a glitch/lag with my kobo, I'm not sure what caused it but the screen completely froze. Which one should I go for? I'm desperate :') Also I intend on reading non-english books on my e-reader.ħ) Kobo plus vs Kindle unlimited - limited catalogue for kobo vs the lack of famous authors for kindle. Then libra might be too big but kindle 6.8" is not 100% travel friendly either.ĥ) Flushed screens - Again, I've never had an e-reader before so I don't mind flushed/indented screens.Ħ) Formats - kobo is more format friendly but I've heard there are ways to sideload books on to the kindle through certain softwares and vice versa. I'll probably read mostly at home and occasionally out in cafes for this year but for next year, I would be out and about most of the times due to work. Also saw lots of reviews where the buttons creak constantly or don't press properly.Ĥ) Size - the asymmetrical design of libra makes the device quite big compared to the paperwhite. I don't intend on using audiobooks on my e-reader.ģ) Buttons - I never had an e-reader before and don't know whether buttons will be useful but I can see how one-hand holding will be easier on the libra. I don't mind having less options for fonts and margins nor no book covers. Both have adjustable warm lights and dark mode, but kobo have issues with uneven backlight time to time (my eyes are quite sensitive to lighting). Also kindle is faster when turning pages. Also heard about borrowing/formatting issues with Overdrive/Libby in Australia.Ģ) Software - Kindle is less likely to be faulty/laggy, much faster than kobo which makes highlighting/note-taking easier for my self-developmental books. ![]() But overdrive through libby may not have books I want available and may have to resort to buying ebooks instead or end up waiting weeks. My reason behind buying an e-reader is for the convenience of reading books for 'free'/reduced cost at the comfort of wherever you are without having to buy books/borrow books physically. I currently live in Australia and these are my considerations for the two devices.ġ) Overdrive support - Kobo only. I'm really struggling to choose between kobo libra 2 and kindle paperwhite 11gen.
